The Advising Center

Center for New Directions Welcome to your future!

The Center for New Directions helps individuals in transition to become personally and economically self-sufficient. We provide career and educational counseling to help individuals recognize their abilities and interests, set goals, solve problems, and find a positive life direction.

Career Counseling

With an emphasis on self-assessment and personal decision-making, career counseling utilizes the following tools to match your values, interests, and skills with career choices:

  • Self-Directed Search
  • Career Information Search
  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

Educational Counseling

As educational counselors, we can help people prepare for, enter, and successfully complete college. This may include getting ready for college by assisting or referring to the Adult Learning Center for a refresher on math or English skills or entering a GED program.

We can assist in sharpening study or test taking skills, taking placement tests, filling out admissions applications, financial aid applications,  and more.

Educational counseling may also include community resources to address obstacles that may surface along the way, such as child care, transportation, difficulties encountered in class, etc.

You may want to seek counseling if:

  • You lost your job or need help finding a new job
  • You want to deal with stressors that are effecting your school, work, or life
  • You are dealing with a life transition such as divorce or starting college
  • You need help with problem solving and life decisions

To make an appointment, please call Muna Crook at 208-792-2313.
